Tagovailoa finished 21 of 30 for 243 yards with the TD to Hill and the two INTs. Hill's touchdown catch was his 10th of the season, making him the first Dolphins player since Mike Wallace in 2014 to have double-digit TD receptions. Reed intercepted Tagovailoa on the Dolphins' next possession, giving the Jets the ball at their 49 with 2 seconds left. Mostert's 13-yard touchdown run on the first play of the fourth quarter gave the Dolphins a 27-6 lead — and tempers flared after that. STATSHill finished with nine catches for 102 yards and the TD, while Jaylen Waddle caught eight passes for 114 yards.

Tim Boyle will be the New York Jets’ starting quarterback against the Miami Dolphins on Friday, two people familiar with the decision told The Associated Press. Wilson and the Jets’ offense have struggled mightily this season, and coach Robert Saleh pulled the 2021 No. New York went 0 for 11 on third down, but went 4 for 5 on fourth down against Buffalo. The Jets scored their first touchdown on offense since Oct. 29 on their only trip inside the Bills 20 on Sunday. Boyle was signed by Chicago off Detroit’s practice squad in November 2022 and spent the rest of the season with the Bears.

WASHINGTON — Bipartisan lawmakers on Monday weighed in on a possible government shutdown, as pressure builds on House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to get something passed with less than a week before the deadline. McCarthy, R-Calif., is in a bind and can't afford to lose more than four Republican votes on a spending bill. Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., said Sunday that he might back ousting the House speaker if such a compromise is reached. "Clearly it's a Kevin McCarthy problem," Heidi Heitkamp, a former Democratic senator from North Dakota, told "Squawk Box" on Monday about moving bills through the House. "People will get paid at the end of this," Mulvaney told "Squawk Box."

BLUE SKIES, by T.C. Boyle“Blue Skies,” T.C. Boyle’s 19th novel, opens with Cat, a would-be social media influencer living on the imperiled Florida coast, buying a pet Burmese python as a piece of “living jewelry” she hopes will boost her Instagram account. Willie, Cat’s Burmese python, is quickly lost and replaced by the even bigger Willie II, who, after the first Willie is found again, is forced to cohabitate with his smaller namesake. Cat, separated by a continent from her family for most of the novel, navigates a Florida downpour while being stalked by the “dull corrugated” shape of an eight-foot alligator.
WASHINGTON — House Democrats who this week began a long-shot bid attempting to force a debt limit increase bill to the floor are pinning their hopes not just on a convoluted legislative gambit, but also on another highly improbable feat: getting a small group of Republicans to cross party lines and join them. It is based on the belief that some Republican lawmakers — especially among the 18 who represent districts that President Biden won in 2020 — could be persuaded to vote with Democrats to pass an 11th-hour debt limit increase that would pull the nation from the brink of financial ruin. “There are 18 House Republicans who like to call themselves ‘moderates,’” said Representative Brendan F. Boyle of Pennsylvania, the top Democrat on the Budget Committee. “Here’s a chance for them to really put their money where their mouth is. Join with House Democrats to ensure we don’t suffer the first-ever default in American history.”
Fed Makes 10th Rate Increase and Opens Door to Pause
  + stars: | 2023-05-03 | by ( Jeanna Smialek | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +2 min
When the Fed raises interest rates, it makes it more expensive, and often more difficult, for families to take out loans to buy houses or cars, or for businesses to raise money for expansions. As wage growth sags and unemployment rises, people become more cautious and the economy decelerates further. When Paul Volcker’s Fed raised interest rates to nearly 20 percent in the early 1980s, it helped to push joblessness above 10 percent. Fed staff members, by contrast, think a mild recession is likely this year, Mr. Powell said. Given the possibility of a downturn, the Fed’s recent rate moves are drawing increased scrutiny — including from Democrats in Congress.
The tense back and forth inside Breitbart reflects a growing tension inside the right-wing media universe writ large — one that could have consequences for national politics. Ahead of the 2024 Republican primary contest, battle lines are starting to be drawn. It’s reminicent of what took place in right-wing media during the 2016 GOP primary season. But the manner in which the biggest mouthpieces in right-wing media cover the looming primary is highly consequential, and could ultimately decide who gets the party’s blessing. Republican primary voters primarily get their news from partisan outlets, such as Breitbart and Fox News, while shunning news from mainstream outlets.

SeaWorld named Jim Forrester, who joined the company in 2019, to the role of interim finance chief and treasurer. Mr. Miller will oversee all Florida parks, alongside another co-chief parks operations officer, Byron Surrett, who will oversee all non-Florida parks. The company also named three new park presidents, and promoted Shekufeh Boyle to the role of chief accounting officer.
A fire broke out aboard the US Navy aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln on Tuesday. Nine sailors had "minor" injures, a Navy official told Insider, with six suffering from dehydration. It's the latest incident to plague the Lincoln, which reported polluted drinking water last month. The fire started Tuesday morning while the carrier was 30 miles off shore, but it was "quickly identified and extinguished" by the crew, according to a Navy statement. The injuries suffered by the sailors were classified as "minor injuries" in the Navy statement.
A merchant mariner captured what it's like to eat every day at sea on a cargo ship. The YouTube video shows a day's worth of food in the officers mess hall on a Maersk ship. Boyle said that the officers' mess hall accommodates about 10 people, while the crew's can house up to 13 at a time. In the video, a ship cook ladles Boyle's eggs onto a griddle and fires up an omelet with a side of bacon. Boyle told Insider the menu options often shift based on the destination and the makeup of the crew.
